FRAUD SCREENING - How It Works

Screening services are delivered both in Real-time and Off-line. The most suitable service for your business model can be discussed with you. Of course everyone wants to make instant decisions, but only if they are right! Our services are designed to prevent fraud whilst never turning away a genuine customer.

You send transaction data to The 3rd Man secure servers at a frequency to suit your business. Some businesses need to make decisions instantly and so the real-time interface is used. Others prefer to take a little time and benefit from the much more accurate off-line interface.

Whichever interface you choose, the 3rd Man will tailor business rules to your exact needs and screen all of your transactions accordingly. Any transactions that appear high risk or suspicious will be reported to you in a matter of seconds (real-time) or within 15 minutes (off-line). Both timeframes are designed to be appropriate, and to give you the opportunity to prevent delivery of the goods or service.

Where there is physical fulfilment of goods, we do recommend that you use the 'window of opportunity' and to allow us to continue screening your data right up until such time as you need to send orders for picking. That way you will enjoy the most efficient fraud screening model. Typically this means that there will be a delay of up to 1 hour between order and picking. The concept of any delay can appear be off-putting... however, a 1 hour delay is often not significant, and is essential to effectively manage your exposure! We think that by taking 1 hour to make the right decision, and by reviewing only those truly suspect transactions, you will actually speed up your fulfilment process. We will be happy to prove this to you.
